Bulk import products
Updated
If you have a lot of products to add, bulk import saves you from creating each one by hand. (Availability may depend on your plan.)
Steps
- Go to Bulk Import.
- Click Download Template to get a starter file in CSV or Excel.
- Fill in the template with your product details — one product per row — and save it.
- Drag your file onto the upload area, or click to browse. Accepted formats are
.csvand.xlsx(up to 5MB). - Under If product already exists, choose Skip to leave existing products untouched, or Update to overwrite them with the file’s data.
- Click Start Import and watch the progress bar in the Import History table below.
- When it finishes, review the Created, Updated, Skipped, and Failed counts.
Note: Any new categories or tags listed in your file are created automatically — you don’t need to add them first.
The category column
The category column accepts more than a single name:
- Use
>to set the level:Women > Sareescreates or reuses “Women” and places “Sarees” underneath it. - Use
|to assign several categories:Women > Sarees | New Arrivalsputs the product in both. The first entry becomes the product’s primary category.
Leaving the cell empty when you update an existing product leaves its categories untouched. See categories for how subcategories and primary categories work.
The image_src column
The image_src column attaches photos to your products automatically. Paste a public https link to each image — for example a link from your old store, a CDN, or any website where the photo is publicly visible.
- Separate several links with
|:https://shop.example/front.jpg | https://shop.example/back.jpg. The first one becomes the featured image. - Up to 10 images per product; each file can be up to 10MB in JPEG, PNG, WebP or GIF format.
- Images are downloaded and optimised by Sohoj Dokan when the import runs, so your storefront serves them fast. The original links are not kept.
- If a link cannot be fetched (private, broken, too large or not an image), the product still imports and the problem is listed in the error report under
image_src.
Links must start with https:// — plain http://, Dropbox/Google Drive share pages that require login, or files only visible to you will be rejected.
The short_description column
The short_description column sets the summary shown beside the price on the product page. Just like description, it accepts simple rich text (bold, italic, links and lists) — the web and mobile product forms use a rich-text editor for it. A plain cell works too and is shown exactly as written. Write as much as you like.
Leaving the cell empty when you update an existing product leaves the stored short description untouched.
Tips
- If some rows fail, click the Failed count (or the download icon) to get an error report showing what to fix, then re-import.
- Only one import can run at a time; wait for the current one to finish before starting another.
